Sup9 is a great knife steel for anything requiring a tough edge. It has proven itself over and over again and is a favourite due to its reliability in use and its simple heat treat procedure.

It has a medium carbon content, and other alloys, it is incredibly tough and durable, with great edge retention and shock resistance.
